HARTING technology makes for exciting races on Hockenheimring

The "Ignition Racing Team Osnabrück" used HARTING technology in its electric racing car and won the special prize: in view of the hot summer temperatures, the familiar HARTING straw hats were a must too, of course.

There was plenty of excitement once again at Hockenheimring and the student teams certainly gave their all. Final mechanical adjustments were made right up to the last minute: the "Formula Student Germany 2014" contest at Hockenheimring again offered exciting entertainment for 3,500 students and just under 6,000 spectators.

National and international teams from a range of different universities designed and built their racing cars entirely independently, whether using combustion engines or electrical power. The event was organized in a number of different static and dynamic disciplines.

HARTING technology was used to power some of the vehicles. In addition to the Formula Student race event itself, HARTING also sponsored a total of twelve racing teams. The sponsorship consisted of funding as well as products from the HARTING Technology Group. HARTING also awarded a special prize for energy efficiency. This went to the "Ignition Racing Team electric" from Osnabrück.

Formula Student is an exciting interdisciplinary project that allows HARTING to encourage highly motivated and qualified young technology specialists. "Formula Student enables us to provide support for up-and-coming engineers. After all, Germany needs talented individuals if it is to stay competitive as an industrial location," says Torsten Ratzmann, Head of Production and Logistics with HARTING.
