The Ludwig Erhard Prize (LEP) is an initiative that aims to boost the performance of organizations and companies in Germany.

The highly prestigious award is presented to candidates that stand out in terms of sustainable outstanding performance and competitiveness. HARTING Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG entered the Ludwig Erhard Prize for the first time this year and has made it through to the final round at the first attempt. The winner of the excellence initiative will remain a secret until the award ceremony on November 26, 2009. The Ludwig Erhard Prize is based on the EFQM Excellence Model, a system for evaluating management processes and their results. The initiative aims to encourage organizations in Germany to use integral management systems, and the award is therefore given to those which have implemented such systems outstandingly.

HARTING Deutschland, the German sales company of the HARTING Technology Group with its headquarters in Minden, impressed the jury with its application and consequently made it through to a second round, where assessors from various sectors gained an insight into procedures at the company by interviewing staff on site.

HARTING Deutschland also performed well in this round and is now through to the final in the category of companies with 101 to 500 employees. Rüdiger Prill, Managing Director of HARTING Deutschland, said: “An award would be a wonderful endorsement of our work, but the detailed feedback report, which we have received, also provides us with valuable suggestions on how we can achieve further improvement.”

The EFQM Excellence Model has been implemented throughout the HARTING Technology Group worldwide since 1999 as part of the “HARTING Way”. It provides the framework for a process of systematic improvement and change with the aim of achieving excellent services and quality throughout the company. Potential is identified and improvement suggestions are developed through regular analysis of company processes.
