Hannover Fair 2009

Philip Harting

HARTING presents new “RFID“ solutions and reports on “Fast Track Switching“ progress.

At this year’s Hannover Messe the HARTING Technology Group is unveiling Ha-VIS RFID, a new solution that closes open process chains in RFID infrastructures. With “Totally Integrated RFID” HARTING is now enabling users to converge previously separated systems – the materials handling system, the reading/writing system and the materials steering system – to form one consistent and uniform solution.
Ha-VIS RFID is based on the high performance RFID tag that HARTING presented at the Hannover Messe 2006 and won the coveted HERMES award thanks to its exceptional technical performance capabilities

As Philip Harting, Head of Connectivity & Networks at HARTING, explained: “We asked ourselves what the HARTING RFID tag – as a comprehensive, uniform system solution – would be capable of accomplishing in connection with readers and middleware. In doing so, we took the concept to the next level and focused our deliberations on the RFID infrastructure in our customers’ manufacturing related and logistics systems. “Totally Integrated RFID“ brings RFID tags, reader functionalities and middleware together to form a complete, integrated system, and closes all the process chains. In this way, Ha-VIS RFID enables users split second inventory and stock-taking – across the entire company, at all locations and simultaneously!“

“Fast Track Switching“ market launch planned for the autumn of 2009

In addition to the “Totally Integrated RFID“ topics, HARTING will be reporting on the ongoing progress in “Fast Track Switching” activities at the Hannover Messe. HARTING unveiled “Fast Track Switching“ as a world novelty at the end of 2008, a development that represents the consistent extension of the basic AUTOMATION IT concept. In this way, “Fast Track Switching“ enables the use of standard Ethernet without restrictions in real-time response and in connection with the required determinism on field level. The new “Fast Track Switching“ technology was directly nominated for the Hermes Award 2009.

Philip Harting: ”Everything is proceeding exactly as planned with “Fast Track Switching”. The technology has been realized and implemented, the first prototypes have been tested and are successfully at work in real applications in HARTING machines. On the foundation of these results we are currently evaluating concrete applications in mechanical engineering, machine building and plant construction and are engaged in close exchange with interested partners. In the autumn of 2009 we will launch the first range of products on the markets.“

The HARTING Technology Group holds in-depth competence in the fields of electrical, electronic and optical connection, transmission and networking, as well as in manufacturing, mechatronics and software creation. The Group draws on these competencies and strengths in developing customized solutions and products such as connectors for energy and data transmission applications including, for example, mechanical engineering, rail technology, wind energy plants, factory automation and the telecommunications sector. In addition, HARTING also produces electro-magnetic components for the automobile industry and offers solutions in the enclosures and shop systems areas.

The HARTING Group currently comprises subsidiary companies and distributors active in over 40 countries and employs more than 3,200 members of staff.
